Our Story
The day my second child was born, our world changed in ways we never expected. Receiving a postnatal Down Syndrome diagnosis, I found myself searching for answers, overwhelmed by an uncertain future. While my daughter was being monitored in the NICU, I dove into research, determined to understand how to support her health and development.
It wasn’t long before I discovered the profound connection between low muscle tone (hypotonia) and oral function. Breastfeeding challenges became our first hurdle—her weak latch, poor tongue control, and inefficient swallow affected both her nourishment and my own health as a mother. Beyond feeding, I soon realized these struggles could lead to speech delays, sleep-disordered breathing, and frequent ear infections. My mission became clear: I needed to strengthen her orofacial muscles and help her thrive.
As a Registered Dental Hygienist, I had already spent years studying oral health, but this personal experience opened my eyes to something even bigger. Orofacial myofunctional therapy wasn’t just essential for children with special needs—it was prevalent in the general population. The same dysfunctional breathing, swallowing, and muscle imbalances I was addressing at home were the very same I had seen for years in my dental patients. This realization led me to deepen my studies and shift my career focus.
With 20 years of experience in dental hygiene and a strong background in fitness, I founded my own Myofunctional Therapy practice in the Inland Empire. My goal is to help individuals of all abilities reclaim proper oral function through targeted exercises that retrain neuromuscular connections. Whether it's improving sleep, breathing, speech, or overall wellness, my practice is dedicated to guiding patients toward a healthier, more functional future.
I believe in a holistic approach—one that not only addresses symptoms but restores balance and function to the entire craniofacial system. Helping families and individuals regain control over their health has become my passion, and I’m honored to be part of this transformative journey.
If you're struggling with oral function challenges, know that change is possible—and I’m here to help.
About
My name is Jacqueline Becerra-Lising, RDH, BS
Hi. I am the owner and lead Myofunctional therapist of Upside Down Frown Care, LLC.
I am a mother and advocate first to both of my wonderful children. I am married to my high school sweet heart and best friend, Adriane. I have one younger brother. My mom is Mexican and my dad was Colombian. I grew up never learning how to cook, because my mom was raised cooking for her ten siblings and was unable to get a proper education. She wanted a different upbringing for me. While her intentions were good, it somewhat backfired when I found myself in college and didn't know how to fry an egg. Luckily, my husband is an amazing cook and had the patience to teach me my way around the kitchen when we were dating.
Before deciding I was going to Dental Hygiene school I contemplated between being an Artist, Veterinarian and an Orthodontist as a career choice.
I enjoy fitness, the arts, hotel stays with family and a quiet time at home. I enjoy dancing and am notorious for butchering lyrics in songs and common idioms in the English language.

About
My name is Simone Bonnet, RDH
Hello. I am a Myofunctional therapist here at Upside Down Frown Care.
My journey into myofunctional therapy was both professional and deeply personal. After nearly two decades as a Registered Dental Hygienist, I remarried in 2017 and welcomed my second daughter. At the time, my oldest was 17, and I had always felt fortunate that she never experienced dental issues.
However, with my youngest, things were different. She had speech delays, was a messy eater, frequently drooled, and—to my dismay—developed early tooth decay despite my meticulous oral care. I couldn’t understand why, especially since I had been less strict with my oldest yet she never had these struggles. What was I missing?
As fate would have it, these concerns surfaced just as I was making a major career shift, leaving the dental office where I had worked for 17 years. A fellow dental hygienist introduced me to myofunctional therapy—a field I had never even heard of. Curious, I dove into research and quickly realized that not only could this be a rewarding career path, but it also held the key to understanding my youngest daughter’s challenges.
Through my training, I uncovered even more: my oldest daughter had a severe tongue tie, which, while not causing typical dental issues, had silently impacted other aspects of her health. Suddenly, I saw myofunctional disorders everywhere—undiagnosed, misunderstood, yet profoundly affecting people’s well-being.
Now, as a passionate Myofunctional Therapist, my mission is to help others connect the dots, improve their health, and unlock their full potential. Breathing is the foundation of life, and I truly believe that myofunctional therapy plays a critical role in optimizing oral function, airway health, and overall well-being.
I look forward to working with you on your journey to better health!
