What Therapy Sessions Look Like:
In Detail...
I provide a comprehensive modality approach to treat and reduce dysfunctional breathing patterns while restoring normal function to your oral and facial muscles. The initial consultation is done over the phone to address your main concerns.
During this conversation, I will go over the basic myofunctional therapy goals and how it can help you get back to moving your tongue, mouth and lips in a more harmonious and natural state. Next, we will dive deeper into your specific conditions when you book a 90 minute telehealth or in-person comprehensive evaluation. I will explain in detail the root causes of your problems and not just the symptoms of pains and ailments.
I will take the time to evaluate anatomical space inside your mouth, tongue movement and function, as well as your facial muscle strength. During this session, you will have the opportunity to have all your questions answered while I record your detailed medical and dental health history pertinent to your need for therapy.
After gathering your information from the initial consultation and evaluation process, I then create a personalized 12-15 session therapy program done virtually, in-person or in your home. I will guide you through a series of exercises that will progress you one step closer to achieving healthier orofacial habits. Together, we will work on strengthening facial muscle weaknesses, reducing chronic jaw joint or facial pain, learning proper nasal breathing techniques and improving your quality of sleep. If tongue-tie surgery is necessary, I will guide you with the appropriate pre and post frenectomy protocol stretches to achieve optimal surgical results.

01
Phone Consultation
There are a lot of questions that people have when thinking about starting Myofunctional Therapy. I am happy to chat with you to see if starting therapy will be a good fit for either you or your child.
03
Start Therapy
This is where we begin our 12-15 session journey into your tailored myofunctional therapy program. We will meet virtually or in person every two weeks for 45 minute sessions. Each session you will be given a total of 4-5 exercises (Passive and Active) in which you are expected to practice everyday for optimal results. The duration of exercises usually only take 5 minutes of your time and are performed 2 times a day. Completion of an entire program takes between 6-9 months.
05
Completion of Therapy
Completion of therapy means you have successfully finished 12-15 sessions with me. Your new found neuromuscular skills will become more natural to you. Sometimes, depending on how well your therapy went, a check-in phone call is made to make sure you continue to succeed.
02
Comprehensive Evaluation
This is the detailed account of the root causes of your problems and how myofunctional therapy can help. A thorough dental and general health history is taken as well as any tongue measurements and initial photos. Because this type of therapy is interdisciplinary, I will also evaluate the possible need to seek the help from other providers such as ENTs, Chiropractors, Cranial Sacral Therapists, Osteopaths, Speech and Language Therapists and /or Airway centered Dentists or Orthodontists.
04
Referrals to Other Providers
Referrals to other providers will be structured into your therapy. Your direct progress in therapy helps me determine what will best suite your needs. *Please note: a physical restriction such as tongue-tie will have to be surgically addressed when accepting doing therapy with me. I do not provide quick versions of pre and post frenectomy care. I provide complete myofunctional therapy that addresses the 4 main goals to treat an orofacial myofunctional disorder.
